ABOUT (me)

Preserving Legacy

I had a dilemma. I was a lifelong teller of stories but had never written one down. I wrote professionally but it was never more than part of a larger job description and it was never my story. I had nothing in print that was not work-related and nothing that might someday matter to those who knew me or, down the line, those born too late to know me. In fact, I was overloaded with stories, but had no sense how to best capture and share them. Then I met 100-words and my dilemma was over.

Professionally, I have worked as an artist, script- and screenwriter, teacher, instructional designer, textbook writer and editor, website builder, glassblower and card-carrying member of the Animators Guild, I.A.T.S.E. Local 839. I made clothes for animals for Saturday Night Live, taught radio script-writing to Africans, founded and ran a successful, award-winning non-profit, wrote four original screenplays and an opera libretto. Non-professionally, I have hitchhiked across South America dressed as a boy, built a house, coached a Swazi swim team, and helped deliver a baby. My spirit of adventure began with an unconventional childhood and had stayed with me since. I received a B.A. from Sarah Lawrence College (Writing and Fine Art), an M.A. from NYU (Writing), a M.P.H. from Hunter College, SUNY and certification from the American Hypnosis Association.
